“A LITTLE ABOUT GUILDS IN WORLD OF WARCRAFT” By Phillip OHara World of Warcraft like many MMORPG’s is a wide open world for you to explore. Gaming has been brought to a whole new dimension, and is always exploding with leaps to the next beautiful evolution in graphics. Somehow World of Warcraft has managed to capture our minds over the past few years with a giant world for you to roam about and thanks to the Internet real life people to interact within it.
While wandering through Azeroth, Outlands, or Northrend you may meet some interesting character’s doing many things. You may see some NPC’s (non playable character’s) which are cool enough, or you may see other real life characters doing such things as role playing, farming, leveling, or moving in a massive horde towards that newly released dungeon in the last patch for an epic raid. Inevitably you will see other players interacting with their guilds.
Types of Guilds
A guild is a group of players who have come together for a like cause to achieve certain feats, reach a certain status, or enjoy the game in a certain way together. The most talked about guilds are “Raiding Guilds” these guilds are formed looking for players to perform certain skills in dungeons or instances in massive groups to take down bosses in raids like Naxxramas, Ulduar and Trial Of Champions gaining rank both on your individual server, and in the entire world of World of Warcraft’s players community. They are constantly tracking stats on gear staying up on content; probably have a guild website where they all communicate, discuss upcoming patch releases, strategies, and theory’s of the dynamics in this ever changing game called theory crafting. Most players in these guilds just want to see content that without a guild you would never see. Then their are other guilds like our recently featured guild Nepentheum who are interested in being recognized as one of the top raiding guilds in World of Warcraft. These guilds are tracked by stats, progression charts, and many other software tools that are developed both by World of Warcraft Blizzard developers and individuals through using the WoW armory.
There are also Role Playing Guilds these guilds are generally interested in the lore of the game and may have played the earlier version of World of Warcraft as well as raid dungeons like Naxxramas, Ulduar and Trial Of Champions. What they are known for however is getting into character and pretending that they are actually an undead warlock, or a self consumed blood elf paladin who cant stop looking in the mirror, and flirting with his female counterpart. This can be strangely weird when they enter into ventrillo and realize they are both played by males. Many players who have deep imaginations, and alot of creativity choose to align their selves with these types of guilds.
Forming a Guild
To form a guild only takes a guild charter with 10 other players who are willing to sign that guild charter and form a union amongst each other creating a guild with a common leader called the “Guild Master”. Generally the guild master is the one who formed the guild, and being a guild master at least being a good Guild Master requires a lot of patience dedication and time spent improving your guild culture and atmosphere. There are many aspects such as recruiting, ensuring that materials are in the bank for progressing through your guilds goals, as well as discipline, and being the face to answer for your guild when they cause a rift in the servers community. Your reputation is everything and it is true that most guilds don’t last over a few months only guilds that have certain rules and structure last. There could be whole books written about guild management and in fact there is which is why we strongly recommend Guild helper’s ebook on it which has helped many guilds to survive, grow and gain recognition amongst other players in the World of Warcraft.
