What exactly is a Druid? Wikipedia was too hard to understand. could they shapeshift as depicted in World of Warcraft, or what? please explain!!
Ancient Druids were a class of spiritual leaders of the Celtic people of western Europe from around 200 BC to 200 AD. Their religious practices were different than anything you’d probably be familiar with today, but their societal function was very much the same as modern day priests, rabbis, etc. They provided spiritual guidance. Of course they couldn’t shapeshift, they were just as human as you or I.
References to Druids in pop culture (e.g. video games, new age religions, etc.) have nothing to do with the real historical Druids other than borrowing the name.
